Winter Queen

Usually, by this time of the winter season, I'm complaining about the cold and the snow.

Not so much, this year.  Here in Michigan, the weather has been divine.  We've had one foot of snow, in November, that melted fairly fast.  There's a rumor that more snow is coming this week, 1-3 inches.

But I have snow on my mind.  Mainly, how to embellish this necklace to look like sparkly snow:

I picked up this bar cabochon in Arizona, a few years ago.  I'm not sure what the stone is.  Agate?  Quartz?  But it looks very wintery to me.  I thought it'd be perfect paired with this cameo, which I think I'll try to highlight with some silver rub, to bring out the texture in her hair and necklace.

I'm thinking I'll use lots of white pearls and crystals, definitely.  But I'm going for a mix of textures, too.  Smooth snow laying on the ground, for sure.  But also, a windy snowstorm, whirling crystals that catch the light.

Probably easier to write about than bead, huh?  We'll see.  :)

  1. oh my that looks amazing! what a cool bar / rock! I've never seen one like that

  2. This is going to look awesome! That stone is so gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing what results.

  3. This is off to a strong start with these two gorgeous focals! I cannot wait to see how this turns out ~ it is going to be a beauty! That agate (?) just goes so well with the lady. Bon Hiver, Skylar. I hope it is kind to you!
